In today’s health-conscious society, the supplement industry has boomed, promising everything from increased energy to better immunity. With so many options available, it can be overwhelming to determine which supplements are truly beneficial and worth investing in.
Luckily for you, I have already researched and tried many different supplements.
Find out what you want. Do you want more energy? Do you want a higher functioning immune system? Do you want mental clarity? By taking a step back and looking at yourself, what do you want to accomplish first?
Reach out to a healthcare professional. Ask your healthcare provider what their thoughts are on starting supplements. If you don’t have one, you can always stop by a pharmacy and speak with a pharmacist, they are knowledgeable in medications and supplements. You could also search for an aromatherapist on Naha.org to find a certified aromatherapist, most will do a free consultation, I know I do.
Read the nutrition label. Just like when you are buying groceries, if there are massively long lists of ingredients with words you don’t even know how to pronounce, it would be a good idea to pass those ones up. Know the difference between quality ingredients and fillers. If in doubt, research what ingredients are used. And remember, organic doesn’t mean safe. There are different levels of organic.
Review what you are putting in your bodies. Look at what you are putting in your body. You will naturally feel better if you eat real food, and supplements can help your body improve even more.
Keep track of what you are taking and how you are feeling. Don’t start taking multiple supplements all at once. You aren’t going to know which ones help and which ones don’t. I suggest taking one new supplement daily for 4 weeks and tracking how you feel each day before making a final decision, unless of course you find yourself allergic or with a horrible reaction to it, in which case you should stop taking them and check the ingredient list to see what is in there, and contact your doctor.
Research the company. Do more than just look at the bottle, research the company. Find out if any studies have been done. Look for more than one research study. Does the company allow people to come in and see how the products are made? If not, that might be a red flag.
Check for third party testing. If the supplements are really that great, there should be no issues with finding the results of the testing. Reach out to the company and ask to view the results of the third-party testing. All reputable organizations will have their products third-party tested.
Don’t buy them at the big box stores. Find a company that specializes in quality products. You aren’t going to find high end supplements in the clearance section for 90% off. You get what you pay for. There is only 1 company that I recommend for supplements. You can check it out here: Supplements
Deciding what supplements are worth buying requires careful consideration of your individual health needs, consultation with healthcare professionals, thorough research, and attention to quality, safety, and efficacy.
